poem for marion

marion, startlingly blue
electric voicebox laughing,
scribble and go twizzle-dizzle.

tiny bubbles caught me on your face
and now i can't become unglued.

i'm stuck to you. you make me do
the silly do the sloopy doo.
the silly putty loop-de-loop!

i write and smile and think of you
and all the things that i would do
to have you by my side
i'd glide and hang on through a bumpy ride
and sail across the sea inside
a barrel made of pumpkin pie!

i'd like to see you near me.
though i see you when i close my eyes
it's not as good as touch i'd like
to touch you.

i could make you feel
delights
that you could never steal
unless you were inside a seal
and how the hell would you do that?

but if you could i'd be surprised
and that would just be one surprise
on top of all the other
blow my mind
surprises
you have given me
your beauty
and your light
you shine as though the moon were bright
on new year's day
sometimes it is
and sometimes "is" can rhyme with "kiss"
especially if you have a lisp.
but if you had a lisp i'd rearrange it to a lips
and then i'd kiss your lips
like long ago
in fairy tales
and we would ride
across the clouds
on dragons
to a super slide

and fall in love.
you'd be my bride.
the children would be at your side
and mine
and we would have some more
and fill up all the houses,
four, at least
and it would take a hundred years
or more.
why not?

if i can dream it
you can read it
we can see it
we can be it
from the sunrise to the sunset
from the winter to the spring
from the autumn to the ocean
from the birds until they sing

we can do it
don't poo-poo it
just kung-fu it
that's the thing
that'll climb into the mountains
and will come out on the top
with a cherry and whipped cream
and we will dance.
and never stop.
